Last week, we co-hosted a webinar with our partner Salsa Labs entitled Social Media, #GivingTuesday and End-of-Year Fundraising: You Can Raise $$ with Facebook and Twitter. It was a fly-away hit, with over 200 attendees and a deck that became the most talked about slideshares on Facebook that week.
The presenters were Drew Bernard, founder and CEO of ActionSprout.com (@ActionSproutApp), Salsa’s Christine Schaefer, and our very own Cheryl Contee (@ch3ryl). The topic at hand: end-of-year fundraising – that magical time – and #GivingTuesday, which falls on December 3 this year.
Panelists discussed different tactics for getting revved up for the holiday season and for that big post-Black Friday/Cyber Monday date.

Christine from Salsa Labs posted a great infographic showing how 28 of their clients were shown to perform 170% better on #GivingTuesday when they promoted the date. Drew Barnard went on to share his wisdom on the subtle art of fundraising on Facebook. His methodology? Priming an audience with great content, whether that’s original or recycled.

At the end of the day, panelists pointed that the key to doing well on #GivingTuesday involved putting in hard work and getting the word out on multiple online channels. After all, Cheryl said, even though a majority of fundraising is still conducted offline, failing to branch out online means that organisations are leaving “big money on the table.”
And that’s where Attentive.ly comes in. By adding social layers onto an static email list, Attentive.ly gives organisations the ability to listen deeply and find influencers when the time comes. And the time is now: the end of the year is coming.
